You know, if you eat all sorts of crap, your workouts turn to complete crap.
That happened last week on Thursday. It sucked. Big time.
After a day of eating all sorts of candy, empty carbs, etc. I decided it was time to get out and run... So I geared up and headed out the door. The first mile wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. Then I started pushing the pace a bit (as that is what my training plan calls for...) and ran to a nearby park. Considered stopping at the conviently located port-a-pottie, but decided against it, and kept running.
In hindsite, that was a bad choice.
After about 2.5 miles... I coudn't run any more. As in, my body was telling me that I needed to get myself to a bathroom, and to be quick about it. So I had to walk carefully home the rest of the way.
Eric asked how the run went...
My reply?
"Crappy, literally."
Good times.

the power of 10
10 years ago. May 7th, 1999.
It was a Friday. I was moved into my first house, which I had offically bought on April 15th, and I decided to go to the Jaycee event, the first ever Meet and Greet (basically a happy hour...)
While there, I asked a guy, who I thought was kind of cute and nice, to be my partner in a game of darts. I had met him in July, when he was looking for volunteers to do crowd control at the marathon, as he was a course marshall. He had come to my "I have a house but no furniture" party on the day I closed. I asked him to play darts.
And one thing led to another...
And we've been married now for 7 years. It will be 8 in September.
Happy Anniversary to us!

over doing it
So last Saturday, I had a pretty full day scheduled. And wanting to get in my long run in the morning, I headed out the door at 6:30am. The plan was for 8miles.
4 miles in, at the turn-around point, I decided to run a loop, rather than an out and back. But I didn't realize that the street that I took to do said loop, weaved around quite a bit. My 8-mile run turned into a 9-mile run. Quite unintentionally...
So my timing was off for the next place I had to be - helping out with a garden/grounds cleanup at a local community center. It's a project that I have chaired in the past, and the person who was in charge didn't really do much, so I felt like I was in charge again. So there was about 2 1/2 hours of pretty active "gardening" involved.
After that, it was off to a friend's house to help her with cleaning up her yard/pool/patio. She had been in an accident last fall, and is not able to do as much physical work as she used to, since she is still recovering from the head injury.
Eric and I came home after that, rested a bit, then headed out to a friend's birthday party. It was a pretty full day, to say the least.
So what did I do on Sunday?
Went for a 30 mile bike ride.
Yep. 'Cause I'm kinda insane.
